Study Tips - How to get started!
09 Nov 2016
You have made the important decision to study and it’s so exciting when your study material arrives! But now what do you do?
The important thing is to make a start straight away!
- The first thing you must do is open your study pack. This may seem really obvious, but many people delay when that initial excitement turns to mild anxiety. As soon as you start, the excitement will return.
- Now you must look for the guide book/s. There is Student Handbook, a Programme Guide, a Study Guide or a Course Guide, depending on which course you have registered for. It is very important to read these guides first, as they provide all of the important information about the course you have registered for, including assessment guidance and important deadlines. They will also provide clear guidance on how to approach your study material and what to do next.
- Take your diary and note all of the important dates, for example assessment submission deadlines. It’s also a good idea to set aside blocks of time in your diary to study and create a physical work space that is quiet, comfortable and free from distractions.
- Join us on the online student portal called iCan. iCan is a quick, hassle-free way to talk to your tutor or lecturer, view your academic and account information. iCan also allows you to access additional academic materials and participate in academic activities (quizzes, discussion forums, etc.) Click here for more information about iCan and click here to access iCan.
Now you are ready to start!
Remember that we are always here to assist you and we wish you all the best in your academic journey.
