A total of 28 graduates were awarded certificates across two qualifications: the Further Education and Training Certificate in Human Resources Management and Practices Support and the Higher Certificate in Business Management. The certificates were presented at two ceremonies held in Johannesburg and East London on 14 and 15 April 2015 respectively. Both were attended by the graduates, their families, invited guests and the Institution’s academic staff.
The ceremonies were held to honour and celebrate the success of our completing students. The guest speakers were Ms Bonge Mkhondo (Johannesburg), Managing Director of Azanya and Dr Nolothando Toni (East London), Head of the Teaching and Learning Unit at the University of Fort Hare. Both speakers congratulated the graduates and delivered empowering inspirational messages. Top achiever awards were presented to Ipfi Mulaudzi in Johannesburg and Tanya Thiart in East London, both achieving distinctions across all modules of the Higher Certificate in Business Management. The atmosphere at both ceremonies was incredible. The sense of pride, excitement and celebration was palpable. Gugulethu Ntozakhe, a graduating student on the Further Education and Training Certificate in Human Resources Management and Practices Support expressed the following after the East London ceremony: “I felt overwhelmingly happy about the way I was welcomed at the occasion. The ceremony was so fantastic.”
The ceremonies are currently held for the students who have completed a qualification through the institution. IQ Academy is currently exploring how we can celebrate the success of all of the students who successful complete business short courses through the institution. Watch the “Latest News” section in future newsletters where we will announce developments in this area.
These graduation ceremonies have taken place at the culmination of an exciting period of institutional change. Following a period of discussion, the management of Fernwood Business College and IQ Academy decided to merge the two institutions and form the new IQ Academy on the 21st November 2014. Ernst Kriek, Academy Director said the primary objective of the merger was to create a larger private education provider that is better equipped to provide a quality learning experience to our students. This merger contributed significant operational capability, academic and support staff and widened the Institution’s course offerings to enable the growth and expansion agenda.
The management and staff at IQ Academy are very proud of our graduating students. We wish them all the best for the future and trust that they will be a credit to themselves, their family and their IQ Academy family.
