iCan is iQA’s online learning portal
Students are encouraged to make full use of iCan, which has recently been upgraded as a primary way to:
- View academic content
- Participate in academic activities
- Engage with your tutor
- Download/upload assignments
- View assignment results
- View account information
Through advances in internet-based technologies and access to connectivity, we have created dynamic platforms to encourage one-on-one interaction between students and tutors and facilitate student communities where challenges, questions, and topics of interest can be discussed.
The enhanced experience is more user-friendly, data-lite and optimised for mobile responsiveness so you can comfortably study anywhere, anytime.
iCan is accessible through PCs, tablets, smartphones, etc. and can be accessed at: https://ican.iqa.ac.za
Why should I log onto iCan?
iCan is the primary teaching and learning platform for academic staff and students respectively and can also be the space where you meet and engage with peers.
Do I need to do anything before I can use iCan?
- You need to be a registered iQ Student
- You need access to the internet and a valid email address to use iCan.
How do I access iCan?
You can access iCan through your PC, laptop, tablet, or smart phone. Please go to http://ican.iqa.ac.za and enter the username and password that was sent to you via SMS.
What do I do if I cannot remember my password?
If you cannot remember your password or username please select ‘Forgot your username or password’ on the Login page. You will then be asked to enter your username or email address. If the details entered match our records, we will email you instructions on how to reset your password. Please note that the email sent expires after 30 minutes for security reasons. If you do not receive an email from iQA with the instructions, please contact us on 086 111 5054
Why is my iCan account suspended?
iCan access will be suspended if:
- your account has been handed-over for collection purposes
- you have been deregistered
- you have completed your studies and received your certificate

Where are the academic activities that I am supposed to do?
Academic activities such as quizzes and discussion forums have been placed within your module or course. You will be able to access these activities as you progress through your module or course.
Where can I view my profile and account information?
Select the ‘My Profile’ option from the top menu bar to view your information.
You will see your personal information and account details as well as which courses you are enrolled for.
How do I access student policies?
Select ‘Student Information’ from the menu bar. You will be presented with a list of policies. Please select the relevant one. The policy will open in PDF in a new tab.
How do I get further assistance with iCan?
